JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective The Senior Philanthropy and Advancement Officer (SPAO) is responsible for overseeing and implementing comprehensive fundraising and philanthropic marketing strategies for Peace House. This is an opportunity for an experienced professional to join a growing team with a critical mission to support survivors of interpersonal violence and abuse.

The SPAO will coordinate with the Board of Directors and Executive Director to implement successful strategies and tactics that support the mission and growth plan of Peace House. Key focus areas include continued development, strengthening, and collaboration with Resource Development Team members and the Senior Engagement and Major Gifts Officer. This role will improve the utilization of data and planning with an emphasis on cultivating existing donors and acquiring new donors to raise the resources needed to carry out the Peace House mission.

Comprehensive Development Program

    Participate as a member of the Executive Leadership Team to provide a united, visible, and strong leadership presence across the organization.

    Strengthen and build an agile and results-oriented Resource Development Team to meet the revenue goals to support the Peace House mission.

    Evaluate donor experience and design, implement, and continually improve a resource development model based on researched best practices. Lead the team to success in taking its new program innovations to market in a timely and scalable way.

    Lead innovation and data-driven giving solutions, positioning Peace House as a visionary non-profit leader by donors, philanthropic organizations, media, and community.

    Create, integrate, and adapt technological platforms and strategies to improve the donor experience and the development resource team’s capacity and efficiency.

    Drive new growth opportunities. Identify, prioritize, develop, and launch strategies, campaigns, and services that elevate the donor experience.

    Ensure fund raising efforts support the Peace House community engagement model and revenue goals. Such components include corporate and business development, individual and major gifts, planned giving, endowment campaigns and revenue-producing events.

    Ensure that the Customer Relationship Management System (CRM) is consistently and accurately used to provide a comprehensive view of existing and potential donors. Use the data to inform strategies. Ensure information about needs, interests, expectations of these individuals and organizations are used to enrich relationships.

    Ensure that donor segmentation models are in place and used to inform fundraising plans.

    Ensure that segment-specific strategic engagement plans are developed for building relationships that support fundraising efforts.

    Provide strategic leadership for Board Development and Fundraising Committee and other fundraising volunteer committees, as necessary.

    Promote cross-functional collaboration as a component of operationalizing the strategic plan and annual goals by demonstrating an ability to manage relationships, processes, deadlines and budget and maintain a positive and constructive attitude while solving problems and managing conflict.

    Ensure relationship-based development practices, intended to ensure an exceptional donor experience are in place and attract and sustain both financial and non-financial resources.

    Collaborate with the Executive Director, Board of Directors and community partners on legislative advocacy and policy support including hosting information and educational events for local, state and federal government officials and representatives.

    Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Team to establish robust systems and processes, ensuring seamless planning, execution, and evaluation of revenue-generating events. Additionally, meticulously document these processes to enhance organizational knowledge and efficiency.

    Foster collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Team to implement and refine systems for effective digital campaigns, newsletters, annual reports, website management, and content creation. Strategically package and market Peace House programs, articulating their impact to attract philanthropic support.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position manages department employees and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of them. These positions include the Development Coordinator and Development Associate.

Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Remote work is required as shared office space is necessary. Physical Demands Occasional lifting, toting, and hauling of gear and supplies.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work 35-40 Hours per week; occasional evenings and weekends

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, or non-profit management-related field.
• At least 5-7 years of direct philanthropy experience including knowledge of major gift solicitation, foundation/corporate solicitations, events, and donor relations.
 • At least 2 years of related experience in marketing and communications.
• Strong technical computer skills: Proficient in the use of computer technology and software including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, CRM and donor database systems, and other tools relevant to the position.
• Ability to pass background check

Preferred Education and Experience:

Master's degree in public administration or business

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)
