We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Temporary Assistant Cook to join our Summit County Senior Citizens team for 6-8 weeks beginning the end of June. The Assistant Cook will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our kitchen, ensuring the preparation and serving of nutritious meals to senior citizens and center visitors. In addition to culinary responsibilities, the Assistant Cook will provide support in clerical duties and other operational tasks essential for County business. SALARY: Starting at $19.85/hourly (see full job description attached)

QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduation from high school or equivalent
• One (1) year of experience in institutional, restaurant, or related food service experience preferred.
• Must possess a food handler's permit.
• Must possess a valid Utah driver's license and submit a clean driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicle.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assist cook in lunch preparation two to four times a week, , prepares food by washing, peeling, trimming, and cutting; measuring and mixing ingredients according to recipe, using a variety of kitchen equipment.
• May cook and prepare food for meals as scheduled by pre-planned menus. Adjusts pre-planned menus as needed to accommodate necessary food substitutes; prepares meals for special diets; adjusts recipe proportions as needed.
• Supervises the serving of meals, assures adequate portions are served consistent with standards regulations and nutritional needs. Ensure nutritional standards are met to ensure a healthy balanced meal by use of knowledge of food nutrition, portion sizes, weights and menus.
• Transport food to and from Senior Centers; checks for temperature, prepare for service, cleanup; give recorded temperatures to Cook; ensures kitchen and kitchen equipment are clean and sanitary; clean kitchen following each use; promptly report unsafe conditions, and dangerous behaviors to supervisor.
• Cover for Cook when needed.
• Assists in menu planning, paying related food invoices and ordering of food for congregate meals.
• Maintains an inventory of available food items and prepares an order list for supervisor.
• Performs related duties as required.
