Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Accounting Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing our general accounting functions, ensuring financial accuracy, and supporting administrative duties as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage account entries for credit cards, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Verify and process payments for accounts payable, maintaining strict adherence to financial procedures.
- Reconcile accounts and investigate any discrepancies or variances.
- Generate invoices and related documentation for accounts receivable, facilitating timely payments.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal, state, and local financial regulations, providing guidance to management as needed.
- Perform miscellaneous reporting and administrative duties as required.
- Compile financial reports and accounting data to support organizational decision-making.
Skills Required:
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Professionalism and self-directed work ethic
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Must be an Excel wizard
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
- Prior experience in accounting and financial reporting, preferably in a non-profit setting
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Access is advantageous
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision
